My role

As a UX/UI Teacher Assistant, I played a key role in guiding students through their learning journey, providing support in both technical and soft skills. Some of my key responsibilities included:

  • Student guidance & mentorship: Conducting daily standups, reviewing students' homework, and giving constructive feedback.

  • Workshops & hands-on training: Leading sessions on Figma for prototyping and wireframing.

  • Project supervision: Acting as a Product Owner during student projects, ensuring alignment with industry standards.

  • Classroom management: Checking attendance, monitoring students’ mood, and keeping track of their progress.

  • Event planning & logistics: Organizing Hackathons, and facilitating final project presentations with companies.

How Ironhack Made Me a Better Lead

Ironhack provided a fast-paced, dynamic environment where I had to balance mentorship, project management, and team coordination—all skills essential for a leadership role. Acting as a Product Owner for student projects helped me develop a structured approach to guiding teams, ensuring alignment with objectives, and providing constructive feedback and also reinforced my ability to make quick decisions, prioritize tasks, and foster a collaborative environment—all crucial aspects of being an effective leader.

Additionally, working closely with students from diverse backgrounds improved my ability to adapt my communication and coaching style to different learning needs, a key skill when leading multidisciplinary teams.

What I have learned there

Working at Ironhack gave me hands-on experience in educational leadership, project management, and UX/UI mentorship. I improved my ability to guide students through complex design processes, provide actionable feedback, and manage both individual and group dynamics in a fast-paced learning environment.

Additionally, I gained valuable experience in planning and executing large-scale educational events, such as Hackathons and final project presentations.

Week 0 (Onboarding Week) tasks
Reviewing pre-work submissions and leading feedback sessions.
Structuring the course calendar and aligning website lessons with the curriculum. Preparing internal and public documents for teachers, TAs, and students.

Weekly tasks
Conducting technical challenges and interview simulations.
Monitoring project presentations, ensuring students stay within time limits, and supporting them as needed.
Organizing and leading Hackathons, as well as final project presentations with external companies.
